COACHED
POOL SWIMS

For beginner and experienced swimmers.

These sessions are a great way of quickly improving your technique and times by training in a group, led by our awesome swim coaching team. Get one-one feedback, learn new drills and build strength and endurance in an hour and a half that will be fun, informative and challenging.

Swimming is a critical phase of triathlon. Whether you are going short and quick, or going for highly efficient long distance endurance events, techique is critical and the build up of stamina vital. Our Tuesday swim training sessions are designed to help you improve your swimming and build race day fitness. Each session is different and guided by where we are in the Triathlon on and off season – and their are opportunities for real time video snippets to help guide you to better technique. As you improve you can move up lanes to keep your progression going.

A few FAQs:

When are the coached swimming sessions?

The club offer an adult swim session every Tuesday between 20:00 – 21:30 (the session starts promptly at poolside at 20:00, arriving at 19:45 to change is advisable).

Where are the coached swimming session held?

The club swimming training session are held at the Everyone Active Leisure Centre, Westgate, in Chichester.

Can I try before committing to regular coached swim sessions?

If you are new triathlon it can feel a little daunting coming to a swim session. Or you may want to have try swim session and meet us all before signing up. So why not come along to one of our swim session and give it a whirl.

What’s included in the Tuesday coached swim sessions?

Dedicated access to the 33.3 metre pool, split into 6 lanes according to ability and coached by our excellent BTF accredited coaches. Sessions focus on technique, speed and endurance including individual stroke analysis, drills using pull buoys, floats and fins, to help improve technique and open water swimming skills.

How good a swimmer do I need to be?

You should be able swim six lengths of front crawl continuously as a minimum. We encourage newcomers to attend poolside to chat to a coach and see the sessions before committing. The coaches will discuss and assess your needs and ability before assigning an appropriate lane. 

What are the kit requirements?

Goggles and suitable swim attire are mandatory. Training kit can be available at poolside, but we encourage members to bring flippers, Pull buoy, float and paddles if they have them.

Do you train for sea or open water swimming?

Open water swimming coach / member led sessions are organised for members during the warmer months.

How much does it cost to swim on the Tuesday coached sessions?

You have to be a member to access our discounted coached swim sessions, plus a small supplement, please see below. The supplement Fees for coached swimming covers the hire of the pool – our wonderful Chi Tri coaches give their time and energy for FREE so this still represents fantastic value.
