INSPIRING
THE NEXT

Swim, bike, run and most importantly fun.

The CTC junior and youth groups welcomes those aged 8-18, and is suitable for all levels of ability – we prioritise participation, effort, and good sportsmanship.

The coached sessions are divided into two groups:-

The Juniors group is for children aged between 8 and 14 and is led by coach Nicky McCulloch

The juniors attend two coached sessions each week during term time for swimming, cycling and running. Older juniors (Year 7 and above) are also offered a weekly indoor cycle session on spin bikes.

All club sessions are led by British Triathlon qualified coaches who are are all DBS checked. We are lucky enough to have:-

  • Five Level 2 coaches
  • Five Level 1 coaches
  • A BTF activator
  • A ASA swim coach

This is a community club and all coaches are volunteers. We encourage parents to get involved helping at coaching sessions and with the general running of the club.

SWIMMING

Club sessions are held at the Everyone Active Leisure Centre in Chichester during term time. There are two sessions held on a Tuesday from 17:00 – 17:45 and 17:45 – 18:30 which juniors can attend depending on available spaces.

The sessions focus on technique, speed and endurance. They also include individual stroke analysis, drills using pull buoys, floats and fins, to help improve technique and open water swimming skills. Swimmers need to bring a drink, goggles and swim hat. All other equipment is provided pool side.

Swimmers should be proficient in front crawl and able to swim two lengths of a 33 metre pool before joining the club. All prospective members will be asked to attend a trial swim session before being allowed to join the club.

BIKE/RUN/STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

Club sessions are held every Saturday at 10:00 – 12:00.

During the summer, the sessions take place in a variety of locations, including Oakwood School, Centurions Way and Chichester College field.

During the winter, the sessions are held at Chichester University Sports Centre.

Venue details will be communicated by email and the club private Facebook group.

Please ensure the athlete’s bike is well maintained and roadworthy, and that your helmet adheres to national safety standards. Check brakes and tyre pressure prior to each session, and bring either a spare inner tube or £5 to pay for one in case of puncture. Helmets MUST be worn.

For younger juniors, a hybrid or mountain bike is suitable as they will be cycling off road – however any kind of bike, so long as it’s well maintained, is fine.

The club owns a small number of road bikes which we hire out to our junior members for an annual fee of about £60 – £80.

The youth group is for children age between 14 and 17 and is led by coach Adam McCulloch

The youth group is for children age between 14 and 17 and is led by coach Adam McCulloch.

New or less experienced 14 year old children are welcome to attend the juniors group.

Additional sessions you can look forward to include yoga, strength and conditioning, and further activator led sessions around the three main disciplines. During the off-season the head coach puts on a series of workshops covering all aspects of the sport to help beginners and seasoned pros alike.

All the juniors/youth are strongly encouraged to enter local competitions regardless of the level. We are lucky enough to have some junior and youth members that compete nationally and internationally.
